“Princess (name) your father has summoned you.” Annalisa, your lady in waiting, stated as she stepped through the threshold of your personal library. You inwardly sighed as you carefully marked your place in your book and set it aside. You gave your dear friend a smile before you headed out the door. You casually strolled down the elegantly designed hallway admiring the beautiful craftsmanship of the stone statues. You loved your home and its beauty never failed to take your breath away, no matter how many years passed by. It took no time at all for you to reach the throne room, which was where you figured your father would be.  Silently the guards opened the large wooden double doors; to which you graced with a smile.

“Ah, my darling (Name)!” Your father boomed once the doors were secured. It was deemed improper for a lady-especially a princess or queen- to raise their voices so you had to wait until you were but a few feet away from the throne to greet your father.

“Hello father.” You bowed your head in respect as you spoke but lifted it after you fell silent.  Happiness shone in the first time since the argument with King Odin two months back. You didn’t know what the fight was about, but it had put your father in an ill mood and the two planets on the brink of war.

“I have finally found the secret to having an alliance with Asgard.”  He declared with a large smile. You smiled back at him, but you couldn’t help but wonder why he told you that. Princesses were kept from the problems of the king since they were deemed too fragile to handle the problems.

“If you don’t mind me asking, what is it?”

“You.”

Your eyes widened at that simple statement, but your father either didn’t notice or didn’t care.

“You are to marry Prince Thor the moment preparations are ready.” He proclaimed with all the glee a king could posse, but as an afterthought he added, “He will be arriving shortly so go get presentable.”

You said nothing but with a heavy heart and a bow of your head you took your leave. Your brain flipped to autopilot to let your thoughts wonder as you gracefully walked to your room. Annalisa was already waiting with a (favorite color) silk dress. The dress hugged your body while the neckline was high and the hemline was low to keep it modest. One glance into the mirror assured you of your beauty so without any more prepping to do you turned on your heel and headed back to the throne room once again on autopilot.

Your mind swirled with thoughts on your marriage and fiancé as you sauntered down the hall. Tears threatened to fall from your eyes but with sheer will you held them back. You tried to think of the positives: your parent’s marriage was arranged and they were happy until your mother died, you had heard Prince Thor was a very sweet man, and you would be helping your father and your world out a lot. Those were the only three positive things you could come up with, but you clung to them like your life depended on it. You repeated your list like a mantra so that you were forced to step away from the negativity up until you reached the throne room once again.

“Here is the intended!” Your father announced once you stepped through the threshold. Tradition made you curtsey once you were close enough to your betrothed and his father.

“Good day King Odin, Prince Thor.”

“Good day.” Both men responded in unison.

“(Name) why don’t you walk through the garden with Thor?” Your father discreetly told you to get out. You took the left arm that Thor offered and gently led him out the room.

“So Prince Thor I hear that you have been to Midgard. Is it as beautiful as I’ve read it is?” You asked him while you admired the beauty of the red and white roses.

“Please call me Thor, and I can’t say much about Midgard’s beauty for I didn’t have time to admire anything.”

You nodded your head before bending down as lady like as possible to pick up a fallen yellow rose. You stared at it in wonderment as yellow roses were rare and there wasn’t a bush around that created such beautiful and delicate flowers. You gently caressed the soft petals, completely forgetting about Thor, as you got lost in its loveliness. Thor smiled at your blissful expression, but felt compelled to break it with something equally as wonderful to you.

“I believe Midgard has those types of flowers in abundance, perhaps I could take you someday.” Thor stated in a neutral tone. Your eyes widened as did the smile on your lips as you hastily stood. Thor had expected that much, however he didn’t expect you to wrap your arms around him and giggle.

“Do you mean it?” You questioned him with a bright sparkle in your eyes. It grew even brighter once he nodded his head in conformation. You loved the beauty of nature more than anything else so for you it was only natural to lean up and place a tender kiss on the cheek of the man that was providing you with a chance to see the nature of a world you longed to go to. When you were flat-footed again you took his arm and once again the two of you causally strolled through the garden.

Your strapless white ruffled wedding dress fit perfectly and the small train made it easy to pace around the room. Your white heels clicked against the marble with every step and your fingers played with the diamond drops on your sliver netted necklace. You knew your husband to be all of three days so it was only natural that you would be nervous. That paired with the fact that after the wedding you would be swept off to Asgard to live made your stomach churn.

“Come now Princess (Name).” Annalisa soothed you as she led you to the door of the throne room. She quickly nodded her head to the guards and they swiftly pulled open the doors. You smiled at your friend and once again thanked Thor in your head for allowing her to go with you to Asgard just as it was time for you to walk to your father. You stopped next to Thor and stared fearlessly at your father and Odin, who both sported golden swords.

“I (father’s name) have seen fit to join my daughter (name) and Prince Thor in order to create peace with Asgard.”

“And I Odin have seen fit to join my son Thor and Princess (name in order to create peace with (hometown).”

Thor silently held his right arm up and your father slid the blade of his sword along the flesh of Thor’s arm to allow the blood to seep out. Your own right arm shook as you held it out to Odin so that he could do the same. With a nod from the priest both of you placed your bloody arms against each other to allow the blood to mix.

“From this day on they, and our planets are as one!” Both your father and Odin yelled to the onlookers together. You slowly brought your eyes up to meet your husband’s gaze and offered a small smile. A sense of pleasure washed over you when he leaned over and whispered in your ear.

“After we get to Asgard I’ll take you to Midgard.”

I know the wedding scene was lousy but I got to thinking if the reader is from another planet than their marriage ceremony should be different. Which is how you wound up with more of a blood brother type wedding.

I don't bloody care about being a proper lady, I'd just yell out and be like "HELLO, FATHER!" And I'd most likely wear tomboyish stuff not a dress
